Graduate Research Recognized at UGA College of Pharmacy

Two graduate students out of 18 poster presenters were recognized
for their research at the second annual Department of Pharmaceutical
and Biomedical Sciences Research Day at the University of Georgia
College of Pharmacy. The event, held at the Georgia Center for
Continuing Education, was attended by graduate students, faculty and
staff of the department.
Jillian Hurst received the Junior Graduate Student Award for her poster entitled, "Lysophosphatidic acid signaling pathways are differentially regulated by RGS proteins in ovarian cancer cells." Hurst's major professor is Dr. Shelly Hooks-Pence.
Recipient of the Senior Graduate Student Award was Brianna Peterson, whose research involves "Differential Effects of Ca2+-Independent phospholipase A2 inhibition on oxidant-induced cell death in primary neocortical cells." Dr. Brian Cummings directs her research.
Each winner received a plaque and the Merck Index to aid in their research.
