El-Remessy to Compete in Searle Scholars Program

Dr. Azza El-Remessy, of the University of Georgia College of Pharmacy has
been selected by the UGA Office of the Vice President for Research to represent the university in the national competition of the
2008 Searle Scholars Program. Previous Searle Award winners have received $80,000 per year for three years of research funding.
The Searle Scholars Program supports the independent research of an outstanding investigator in the first or second year of their appointment at the assistant professor level, in a tenure-track position.
El-Remessey joined the faculty in 2006 as an assistant professor in Clinical and Administrative Pharmacy in the College's Clinical Pharmacy Program at the Medical College of Georgia. Her research focuses on clinical and experimental therapeutics. She earned a Ph.D. in biochemistry and molecular biology from MCG and has a prior degree from Masoura University in Egypt.
