The College of Pharmacy Bylaws
College of Pharmacy Bylaws were originally written by
the Faculty Affairs Committee during 1997-98 and were approved by the faculty on October 5, 1998,
under Dean Stuart Feldman. After becoming Dean in Winter 2000, Dean Svein Oie decided to change the Bylaws to form
a Faculty Council. Accordingly, changes to the Bylaws were presented to the faculty during the Spring Faculty Meeting
in 2000. The Faculty Council was formed in the Spring in order for it to be active beginning August 2000.
Changes to the Bylaws were again proposed, and the Faculty Council spent much of the year working on them. In Fall
2000, Bylaws changes were presented to the faculty. In Spring 2001, amendments were voted on. With Charles Gammill as
Chair, the Bylaws were amended.
On September 11, 2001, the Bylaws were amended again. They were further amended in 2002 and in 2003.
A lot of the early amendments to the Bylaws were housekeeping amendments intended to clarify the
language of the Bylaws.
To date, major amendments include the following:
- Formation of the Faculty Council and its duties; running of faculty meetings
- Housekeeping (language of Bylaws edited)
- Change in format--Standing Committees places in alphabetical order
- Election of faculty secretary and parliamentarian
- Faculty voting rights--amended twice
- Formation of the Faculty Awards Committee
- Assignment of additional duties to Faculty Council
- Promotion and Tenure Committee--Post Tenure Review
