Centennial Gala Event and Weekend Entertainment

You're invited to attend a memorable evening at the Classic Center. Our guest list includes every College of Pharmacy graduate! Mrs. Kenneth L. (Grace) Waters, Honorary Chairperson of the Centennial Year Celebration, will be there to welcome you to this once-in-a-lifetime event. We're planning cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, a silent auction, a wonderful dinner, two bands, gifts and memorabilia.

Plan to spend the weekend of May 21-22 in Athens and enjoy the entertainment possibilities listed below. Hotel information, event registration materials, and prices will be posted here in September 2003. The cost of tours will vary depending on which tour you select and how many people are in the group.

red pointer Tour of Historic Athens: A guided tour of the Classic City with a guide/historian on a tour bus. Tour time: 1.5 hours.

red pointer State Botanical Garden Tour: Nature lovers won't want to miss this 313-acre preserve that features five miles of trails, a new International Garden, the Day Chapel, and a three-story tropical conservatory. After the tour, guests can return to the College for a complimentary lunch. Tour time: 3 hrs.

red pointer Dean Waters' Memorial Tube Steak Lunch: Have lunch complete with hotdogs and ice cream outside in front of the R.C. Wilson College of Pharmacy Building in the newly constructed mall area. Afterward tour the building to see all the changes since you were here.

red pointer Downtown Walking Tour--Enjoy a guided walking tour of historic downtown Athens and North Campus. Tour begins at the Classic Center and features historic sites and associated lore. Tour time: 2 hrs.

red pointer Ramsey Student Center and Georgia Museum of Art Tour: The 420,000 sq. ft. Ramsey Center offers racquetball, weight training, two Olympic swimming pools, basketball courts, rock climbing and indoor soccer. The beautiful Art Museum boasts a 200-seat auditorium, gift shop and nine galleries. Tour time: 3-4 hrs.

red pointer Guided Pub Tour--Guided tour of six to eight downtown pubs and nightspots in restored historic buildings. Tour time: 3.5 hrs.

red pointer Self-Guided Pub Tour--Visit pubs in downtown Athens, supplied with historical information, cocktail recommendations and information on bands in residence. Tour time: 3.5 hours.
