Scholarships by Geographic Region

The College offers endowed scholarships to current pharmacy students. Criteria include residents by geographical region, academic achievement, community involvement, independent pharmacy, interest in hospital, long term care or assisted living pharmacy. 

Harveys Supermarket Pharmacy Endowed Scholarship (7216500)

Qualifications:
The Harveys Supermarket Pharmacy Endowed Scholarship is awarded annually to 3rd or 4th year students in the College of Pharmacy who are residents from South Georgia and who have a great desire to practice community pharmacy.

Required Application Materials:
As part of the application process, students must be prepared to submit a personal statement, which highlights the unique characteristics of the communities from which they come in South Georgia as well as their desire to practice community pharmacy.

Ferrell “Al” Dixon, Jr., Endowed Student Scholarship (7216600)

Qualifications:
The Ferrell “Al” Dixon, Jr., Endowed Student Scholarship is awarded annually to students in the College of Pharmacy who are residents from the Georgia Coastal area with at least a “B” average and who have a great desire to practice community pharmacy.

Required Application Materials:
As part of the application process, students must be prepared to submit a personal statement, which highlights the unique characteristics of the communities from which they come in the Georgia Coastal area as well as their desire to practice community pharmacy.

J. Ashley and Jill R. Dukes Scholarship (7238300)

Qualifications:

The J. Ashley and Jill R. Dukes Scholarship is awarded to a student(s) in the College of Pharmacy who has an interest in independent pharmacy. First preference shall be given to students from Jesup, Georgia. Second preference shall be given to students from the following Georgia counties: Wayne, Chatham, Ware, Glynn and Appling.

Required Application Materials:

As part of the application process students must be prepared to submit a personal statement, which addresses their desire to practice independent pharmacy.

Belcher Family Endowed Student Scholarship (7221600)

Qualifications:
The annual recipients of the Belcher Family Endowed Student Scholarship are outstanding 3rd or 4th year students in the College of Pharmacy who have at least a 3.5 GPA. Recipients are U.S. citizens who are residents of the southwest area of Georgia. These individuals are involved in the College of Pharmacy program in southwest Georgia.

The recipients of the Belcher Family Endowed Student Scholarship are excellent communicators who are free from dishonesty and hypocrisy, and who have genuine affection for people. They possess an excellent bedside manner that relates a positive attitude and professional conduct toward patients.

Required Application Materials:
As part of the application process, students must be prepared to submit a personal statement in which they reflect upon the unique characteristics of the communities from which they come in southwest Georgia, their experiences in the southwest Georgia program as a UGA Pharmacy student, and the personal attributes they possess that will ensure their success as patient-centered, honest, empathetic, knowledgeable, and kind practitioners.

Northwest Georgia Pharmacist Association Fund (7224100)--The Ed Giles Pharmacy Scholarship

Qualifications:
The Northwest Georgia Pharmacist Association Fund provides scholarships to students in the College of Pharmacy who are from Catoosa, Dade, Chattooga, or Walker Counties in the state of Georgia. The first scholarship of the Fund, the Ed Giles Pharmacy Scholarship, is awarded to students who exhibit outstanding academic achievement and who are active members and participants in pharmacy organizations and other extracurricular activities.

If all factors are equal based on these criteria, the final selection will be based on financial need as determined by the Office of Student Financial Aid. If in a given academic year, there are no eligible students from one of the four designated counties, then no scholarship will be awarded.

Tommy and Patsy Bryan Independent Pharmacy Scholarship (7275400)

Qualifications:
The Tommy and Patsy Bryan Independent Pharmacy Scholarship is awarded to 2nd, 3rd or 4th year students in the College of Pharmacy who are residents of Georgia and who have a great desire to practice Independent Pharmacy.

Required Application Materials:
As part of the application process, students must be prepared to submit a personal statement, which addresses their desire to practice independent pharmacy.

Leslie and Rondell Jaggers Endowed Student Scholarship (7501100)

Qualifications:

The purpose of the fund is to provide scholarship support for students in the College of Pharmacy. Recipients can be in their 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th year of study, shall maintain a grade point averge of 3.0 or higher, and should have an affinity for health-system pharmacy. Preference shall be given to students residing within a thirty (30) mile radius of Savannah proper.

Required Application Materials:

Students must submit a personal statement, which provides evidence of their outgoing personality, their well-rounded background, their involvement in professional student organizations.

M. W. Williamson Scholarship (7286300)

Qualifications:
The M. W. Williamson Scholarship was established in 1983 and is to be awarded to deserving students in the College of Pharmacy at the discretion of the Dean. Preference will be given to Pharmacy students who are residents of Treutlen, Emanuel, and/or Toombs counties in the State of Georgia.

As part of the application process, students must present a picture to the committee of who you are. Describe your financial situation. Justify why you are seeking aid. Describe how you would benefit from the financial aid.

 

Tim and Ann Hansford Specialty Pharmacy Scholarship (7814100)

Qualifications:
The recipients of the Tim and Ann Hansford Specialty Pharmacy Scholarship must have an interest in home infusion, hospital, long term care, or assisted living pharmacy and be in their second, third, or fourth year of study, must have a minimum "C" average, and be active active within pharmacy organizations such as GSHP, APHA, NCPA, GPHA, etc.    First preference is to award the scholarship to a student who resides in Georgia. 

Required Application Materials:
As part of the application process, students must be prepared to submit a personal statement in which they address their interest in home infusion, hospital, long term care, or assisted living pharmacy, the reason(s) for their interest, and the characteristics they possess that will enable their professional success in these areas.

Jake and Willa Weathersby Scholarship (7223900)

Qualifications:
The Jake and Willa Weathersby Scholarship is awarded to students in the College of Pharmacy from the Savannah area who are or who have been involved in community service and outreach.

If all factors are equal or if there is not eligible recipient based on these criteria, the final selection will be based on financial need as determined by the Office of Student Financial Aid.

As part of the application process, students must be prepared to submit a personal statement in which they reflect upon the unique characteristics of the communities from which they come in the Savannah area and their experiences in community service at outreach.

Solomons Family Endowed Student Scholarship (7236900)

Quallifications:

The recipient(s) of the Solomons Family Endowed Student Scholarship must be in their second, third or fourth year; have a "C" average or higher; and reside in Savannah, Georgia or one of the surrounding counties: Appling, Augusta-Richmond, Bacon, Baldwin, Brantley, Bryan, Bulloch, Burke, Camden, Candler, Charlton, Clarke, Clinch, Coffee, Columbia, Dodge, Effingham, Emanuel, Evans, Glynn, Jeff Davis, Jenkins, Laurens, Liberty, Long, McIntosh, Montgomery, Pierce, Richmond, Screven, Tattnall, Telfair, Toombs, Treutlen, Ware, Wayne and Wheeler.

Dana E. Strickland Endowed Student Scholarship (7174600)

Qualifications:

The purpose of the fund is to provide scholarship support to a student(s) in the College of Pharmacy who has a great interest in community pharmacy, pharmaceutical industry, or pharmacy external affairs. First preference shall be given to students from Jesup, Georgia. Second preference shall be given to students from Wayne County, Georgia. Third preference shall be given to students from Clarke County, Georgia. The recipient(s) should exhibit great moral character and have outstanding integrity. It is preferred that students receive this scholarship in their 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of study. If no students are available from these areas, then the scholarship will be open to other candidates. Selection will be made by the College's scholarship committee.
