Merit, Character, Service and Career-Based Scholarships

The College offers endowed scholarships to current pharmacy students. Criteria include academic achievement, extracurricular activities, leadership abilities and community involvement.

Jim and Kim Andrews Endowed Student Scholarship (7512900)

Qualifications:

The purpose of the fund is to provide scholarship support for a PharmD student(s). First preference shall be given to Georgia residents who have been honorably discharged from the armed services and are considered to be underserved veterans who may need extra money to complete their studies and may be running out of GI bill benefits.  If no one meets this criteria, the scholarship shall be open to all PharmD students.

Cardinal Health Endowed Student Scholarship (7512800)

Qualifications:

The purpose of the fund is to provide annual scholarship support for students in the College of Pharmacy. Recipient should have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher and must be interested in pursuing a career in community pharmacy, especially independent ownership.

Required Application Materials:

As part of the application process, students must be prepared to submit a personal statement which demonstrates their interest in pursuing a career in community pharmacy, especially independent ownership.

Gloria Pike Harbuck Student Award (7902000)

Qualifications:

The purpose of the fund is to recognize a student at the College of Pharmacy who demonstrates a passion for community service and outreach, with first priority given to a member of Lambda Kappa Sigma (LKS), an international, professional pharmacy fraternity. 

Required Application Materials:

As part of the application process, students must submit a personal statement which demonstrates a passion for community service and outreach. 

Renee McDonald Hay and David Hay Scholarship (7502300)

Qualifications:

The purpose of the fund is to provide scholarship support for students in the College who have an interest in retail pharmacy. Recipients shall be in their second, third, or fourth year of the Pharmacy program and will be selected by a committee appointed by the Dean of the College.

Required Application Materials

To be considered for this scholarship, students must submit a personal statement addressing their interest in retail pharmacy. Describe your financial situation. Justify why you are seeking aid. Describe how you would benefit from the financial aid.

Ferman Jay Endowed Student Scholarship (7216100)

Qualifications:
The Ferman Jay Endowed Student Scholarship is awarded annually students in the College of Pharmacy who have a great desire to practice community pharmacy.

Required Application Materials:
As part of the application process, students must be prepared to submit a personal statement, which addresses their desire to practice community pharmacy.

Broadrick Family Endowed Student Scholarship (7216900)

Qualifications:
The annual recipients of the Broadrick Family Endowed Student Scholarship are 3rd or 4th year students in the College of Pharmacy who are outgoing, well rounded, active in professional student associations, and engaged in volunteering in the practice of Pharmacy.

Required Application Materials:
As part of the application process, students must be prepared to submit a personal statement, which provides evidence of their outgoing personality, their well rounded background, their involvement in professional student associations, and their engagement in volunteering in the practice of pharmacy.

Kroger Endowed Student Scholarship (7220500)

Qualifications:
The annual recipients of the Kroger Endowed Student Scholarship are 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year students in the College of Pharmacy who maintain at least a “C” average. Recipients have a great interest in the practice of community pharmacy—particularly in the retail sector—and exhibit a high level of character through moral and ethical conduct.

Required Application Materials:
As part of the application process, students must be prepared to submit a personal statement in which they address the value of moral and ethical conduct and their interest in practicing community pharmacy.

Kenneth M. Ward Endowed Memorial Scholarship (7237300)

Qualifications:
The annual recipients of the Kenneth M. Ward Endowed Memorial Scholarship are students in the College of Pharmacy who maintain at least a “C” average and who exhibit a high level of character.

Required Application Materials:
As part of the application process, students must be prepared to submit a personal statement in which they discuss the aspects of their character that will contribute to their success in the practice of pharmacy.

Jun Family Achievement Scholarship (7239200)

Qualifications:
The Jun Family Achievement Scholarship is awarded annually to students in the College of Pharmacy who are from Asian decent; however, the award is not limited to this population group.

Required Application Materials:
As part of the application process, students must be prepared to submit a personal statement, which addresses their cultural decent and the unique considerations for the practice of pharmacy within that culture.

Chapman Family Endowed Student Scholarship (7240200)

Qualifications:
The recipients of the Chapman Family Endowed Student Scholarship are students in the College of Pharmacy who maintain at least a “C” average and who exhibit excellent morals and character with high standards representing the profession of pharmacy.

Required Application Materials:
As part of the application process, students must be prepared to submit a personal statement in which they reflect on their excellent morals and high standards and the ways in which these characteristics are necessary for the successful practice of pharmacy.

Reagan Roland Lykins Memorial Scholarship (7280900)

Qualifications:

The purpose of this fund is to commemorate the spirit and determination as well as the academic achievement of Reagan Roland Lykins. The scholarship will be used to benefit the student in his/her second year of pharmacy. The recipient must have a 3.0 GPA or more.

Required Application Materials

To be considered for this scholarship, students must submit a personal statement which demonstrates qualities of courage, motivation and perserverance.

Murphy Family Scholarship (7229500)

Qualifications:

The purpose of the fund is to provide scholarship support for students in the College. Recipients must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher and must demonstrate interest in hospital or health-system pharmacy.

Required Application Materials:

As part of the application process, students must be prepared to submit a personal statement which demonstrates their interest in hospital or health-system pharmacy.

Jay Kimsey Neal Scholarship (7292300)

Qualifications:
The Jay Kimsey Neal Scholarship is awarded to a student in memory of Jay Kimsey Neal.

Required Application Materials:
As part of the application process, students must present a picture to the committee of who you are. Describe your financial situation. Justify why you are seeking aid. Describe how you would benefit from the financial aid.

Rick and Robbin St. John Endowed Scholarship (7240600)

Qualifications:
The recipients of the Rick and Robbin St. John Endowed Scholarship are 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year students in the College of Pharmacy who have an interest in institutional or hospital pharmacy.

If there is no candidate that meets the above criteria, the Scholarship Committee may use their discretion to award this scholarship to deserving students in the College.

Required Application Materials:
As part of the application process, students must be prepared to submit a personal statement in which they address their interest in institutional or hospital pharmacy and the characteristics they possess that will enable their professional success in these areas.

Sukipa Scholarship (7229400)

Qualifications:

The purpose of this fund is to provide scholarship support for a student(s) in the College of Pharmacy. Recipient must maintain a grade point average of 3.4 or higher.

Required Application Materials:

As part of the application process, students must present a picture to the committee of who you are. Describe your financial situation. Justify why you are seeking aid. Describe how you would benefit from the financial aid.

Michelle E. Turner Pharm.D. Memorial Scholarship (7241400)

Qualifications:
The recipients of the Michelle E. Turner Pharm.D. Memorial Scholarship are students in the College of Pharmacy who are persons of integrity, who possess an excellent work ethic, and who have a strong desire to succeed in the profession of Pharmacy who exhibits good moral and ethical values, not excluding spirituality as part of their value system.

It is preferred that priority be given to a student employed by or rotating through the Northside Hospital Pharmacy System, with second priority given to a student employed by or rotating through a hospital pharmacy system in general; however, these are only suggestions and should not eliminate a qualified student in an area of Pharmacy that exhibits the aforementioned qualities and characteristics.

Required Application Materials:
As part of the application process, students must be prepared to submit a personal statement in which they reflect on their value system and work ethic and how these variables contribute to success in the pharmacy profession.

Students must also provide a letter of support from an employer, supervisor, or faculty member. This letter should address the student’s integrity, work ethic, and value system as it relates to professionalism. 

Jim Furman Student Scholarship (7242700)

Qualifications:
The recipients of the Jim Furman Student Scholarship are students in the College of Pharmacy who are persons of integrity and who exhibit good moral and ethical values, not excluding spirituality as part of their value system.

Required Application Materials:
As part of the application process, students must be prepared to submit a personal statement in which they reflect on their values and ethics and how these variables contribute to success in the pharmacy profession.

Students who apply for the Jim Furman Student Scholarship must also provide a letter of support from an employer, supervisor, or faculty member. This letter should address the student’s integrity, work ethic, and value system as it relates to professionalism. 

Mike Ellington Memorial Scholarship (7245100)

Qualifications:
The Mike Ellington Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to 4th year students in the College of Pharmacy who have a “C” average or better and who have exhibited outstanding community service.

Required Application Materials:
As part of the application process, students must be prepared to submit a personal statement, which highlights their engagement in community service and explains the personal and educational value of engaging in community service.

J. M. Smith Foundation Scholarship (7245200)

Qualifications:
The J. M. Smith Foundation Scholarship is awarded annually to students in the College of Pharmacy who have a “C” average or better and who have an interest in pursuing independent retail pharmacy.

Required Application Materials:
As part of the application process, students must be prepared to submit a personal statement, which highlights their interest in and reasons for pursuing independent retail pharmacy.

Charles R. Herrin, Jr., Memorial Scholarship (7248000)

Qualifications:
Established in memory of Charles R. Herrin, the Charles R. Herrin, Jr., Memorial Scholarship provides support for 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year students in the College of Pharmacy who are professional, courteous, and of high character. Recipients should also exhibit leadership qualities.

Required Application Materials:
As part of the application process, students must be prepared to submit a personal statement in which they reflect on the qualities they possess that contribute to their professionalism and their leadership abilities.

Students who apply for the Charles R. Herrin, Jr., Memorial Scholarship must also provide a letter of support from an employer, supervisor, or faculty member. This letter should address the student’s professionalism, courteousness, character, and leadership abilities. 

John H. Taylor, Jr., Student Scholarship (7254700)

Qualifications:
The recipients of the John H. Taylor, Jr., Student Scholarship are 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year students in the College of Pharmacy who have a minimum of a “C” average. The recipients of this award demonstrate good character, are involved in professional organizations, and have a caring personality involving patients.

Required Application Materials:
As part of the application process, students must be prepared to submit a personal statement in which they highlight their involvement in professional organizations and in which they reflect upon the attributes they possess that will make them caring pharmacists.

Students who apply for the John H. Taylor, Jr., Student Scholarship must also provide a letter of support from an employer, supervisor, or faculty member. This letter should address the student’s character and his/her interactions with patients.

Kmart Corporation Scholarship (7256600)

Qualifications:
The recipient(s) of the Kmart Corporation Scholarship must have a minimum 2.0 GPA and an interest in (or be currently employed in) community pharmacy.

Preference will be given to students presently employed by Kmart or whose family member is presently employed by Kmart.

Required Application Materials:
As part of the application process, students must be prepared to submit a personal statement, which addresses their interest in practicing community pharmacy.

Brad G. and Beth B. Phillips Student Development Scholarship for Residency Training (7274500)

Qualifications:
The Brad G. and Beth B Phillips Student Development Scholarship for Residency Training is awarded to students in the College of Pharmacy who have a great interest in residency training and who have at least a 3.25 GPA. To be considered for the Student Development Scholarship for Residency Training, applicants must be recommended by a faculty member in the College of Pharmacy (see “Required Application Materials” for details).

Required Application Materials:

As part of the application process, students must submit a one-page formal letter of application in which they describe their interest in pharmacy resident training. 

Students must also provide a letter of recommendation by faculty member in the College of Pharmacy. This letter should address the student’s motivation, interest in, and likelihood of success in pharmacy residency training.

Fred M. Peterson, MD, Student Scholarship (7280500)

Qualifications:
The Fred M. Peterson, MD, Student Scholarship is awarded to 2nd, 3rd, and/or 4th year students in the College of Pharmacy who have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and who have an interest in pursuing an unconventional career path beyond pharmacy school. This does not necessarily suggest that potential candidates must go to medical school; however, they must express a career interest in an area other than independent, chain drugstore, or hospital pharmacy.

Required Application Materials:
As part of the application process, students must be prepared to submit a personal statement which highlights their interest in and reasons for pursuing an unconventional career path beyond pharmacy school.

Randolph-Mercer Memorial Scholarship (7283200)

Qualifications:
The Randolph-Mercer Memorial Scholarship was established in June 1975 by Dr. Ted D. Cash of Lafayette, Georgia. The scholarship is awarded to students in the College of Pharmacy each year as an annual memorial to Dr. Frank Edward Randolph and Dr. Franklin Eugene Mercer.

Southeastern Society of Health-System Pharmacists Scholarship (7284200)

Qualifications:
The Southeastern Society of Health-System Pharmacists Scholarship is awarded to 2nd, 3rd, and/or 4th year students in the College of Pharmacy who are in good academic standing within the College.

Required Application Materials:

James L. Youngblood Scholarship (7285500)

Qualifications:
The James L. Youngblood Scholarship is awarded annually to deserving students in the College of Pharmacy.

Lee Webb, III, Scholarship (7289700)

Qualifications:
The Lee Webb, III, Scholarship Fund was established to support scholarships for pharmacy students in the professional curriculum in the name of Lee Webb, III.

Albert W. Jowdy Scholarship (7289800)

Qualifications:
The Albert W. Jowdy Scholarship was established to provide scholarships to Pharmacy students in the professional degree program.

Required Application Materials:

Grace Waters Endowed Student Scholarship (7293300)

Qualifications:
The recipients of the Grace Waters Endowed Student Scholarship are 2nd, 3rd, and/or 4th year students in the College of Pharmacy who have a “B” average or better and who are of great character, have a high level of motivation, exhibit high morals, and be a person of good judgment.

Required Application Materials:
As part of the application process, students must be prepared to submit a personal statement in which they explain their motivation for pursuing a career in Pharmacy and in which they reflect on their character, morals, and judgment and the ways in which these characteristics are necessary for the successful practice of pharmacy.

Students must also provide a letter of support from an employer, supervisor, or faculty member. This letter should address the student’s character, motivation, morals, and judgment. 

Grace and Kenneth L. Waters Scholarship (7295100)

Qualifications:
The recipients of the Grace and Kenneth L. Waters Scholarship should be of great character, have a high level of motivation, exhibit high morals and be a person of good judgment. Students must have a “B” average or better while attending the College.

Required Application Materials:
As part of the application process, students must be prepared to submit a personal statement in which they explain their motivation for pursuing a career in Pharmacy and in which they reflect on their character, morals, and judgment and the ways in which these characteristics are necessary for the successful practice of pharmacy.

Students must also provide a letter of support from an employer, supervisor, or faculty member. This letter should address the student’s character, motivation, morals, and judgment. 

Dione Mavis Johnston Scholarship of Excellence (7296800)

Qualifications:
The Dione Mavis Johnston Scholarship of Excellence is awarded to an outstanding woman Pharmacy student in her 3rd year for her final three quarters in the College of Pharmacy. Recipients are of a high character and display excellence in academics combined with achievement in other areas.

Required Application Materials:
As part of the application process, students must be prepared to submit a personal statement in which they outline their academic achievements as well as their achievement in other areas.

Students must also provide a letter of support from an employer, supervisor, or faculty member that addresses the applicant’s character. 

Beth Goldman Block Memorial Scholarship (7299900)

Qualifications:
The Beth Goldman Block Memorial Scholarship is awarded to outstanding Pharmacy students in their 3rd year for the final two semesters in the College of Pharmacy. Recipients display excellence in academics and possess a high moral character.

Required Application Materials:

As part of the appliction process, students must be prepared to provide a letter of support from an employer, supervisor, or faculty member that addresses the applicant’s character. 

Senator Buddy Carter Distinguished Leadership Endowment (7814500)

Qualifications:
The Senator Buddy Carter Distinguished Leadership Endowment Fund was established to help fashion future advocates in the public arena for pharmacy. Recipients of the Senator Buddy Carter Distinguished Leadership Endowment are 2nd, 3rd, and/or 4th year students in the College of Pharmacy who have shown a desire and interest in public service and who exhibit strong leadership qualities and capabilities.

Required Application Materials:
As part of the application process, students must be prepared to submit a personal statement in which they address their interest in public service, the reason(s) for their interest, and the leadership qualities they possess that will enable them to serve as advocates for pharmacy in the public arena.

Wal-Mart Student Scholarship (7277150)

Qualifications:
The recipients of the Wal-Mart Student Scholarship are 2nd, 3rd or 4th year students in the College of Pharmacy with a minimum GPA of 3.0 who possess leadership qualities demonstrated through their service to others, leading by example, and being respectful. Applicants must have strong communication skills and must have an interest in Community Pharmacy.

Required Application Materials:
As part of the application process, students must be prepared to submit a personal statement, which provides evidence of their leadership abilities and which expresses reasons for their interest in Community Pharmacy.

William E. (Bill) Wade Endowed Student Scholarship (7506700)

Qualifications:

The purpose of the fund is to provide scholarship support for a PharmD student(s) in the College with an interest in community pharmacy and academic pharmacy.  Recipient(s) shall exhibit excellent moral character, be spiritually minded, honest, and have integrity. Preference shall be given to 2nd, 3rd or 4th, year students who have previously demonstrated to the faculty and scholarship committee that they exhibit the above criteria.

Required Application Materials:

As part of the application process, students must be prepared to submit a personal statement in which they express their interest in community pharmacy and academic pharmacy.

W. Allen and Helen Lo Partridge Endowed Student Scholarship (7277500)

Qualifications:

The recipient(s) of the W. Allen and Helen Lo Partridge Endowed Student Scholarship must be in their second, third, or fourth year of study, have a great interest in practicing independent community pharmacy and maintain at least a "B" (3.0) GPA. 

Required Application Materials:

As part of the application process, students must be prepared to submit a personal statement in which they express their interest in practicing independent community pharmacy.

Kevin and Tanya Woody Student Scholarship (7214700)

Qualifications:

The recipient(s) of the Kevin and Tanya Woody Student Scholarship must maintain a 2.5 GPA and be spiritual.

Required Application Materials:

As part of this application, students must submit a personal statement, which addresses their spirituality and the role it plays in their growing professionalism.
