Calling all nominations! It’s time once again to nominate UGA College of Pharmacy alumni and friends for the Distinguished Alumnus Award and Distinguished Service Award. These awards recognize those who have demonstrated excellence and service to the pharmacy profession. Posted 6/13/14. Unit Based Oncology Pharmacist--University Hospital, Augusta, Georgia
University Health Care System is anchored by the 581-bed University Hospital, and serves Augusta-Richmond County and the surrounding region. The University Hospital campus includes the W.G. Watson, M.D., Women's Center which features 36 obstetrical suites and state-of-the-art surgical suites dedicated for obstetrical and gynecological patients as well as a well-baby nursery and a 40-bed Level III Special Care Nursery offering neonatal intensive care to our smallest and most critically ill infants. University also owns two physician-based oncology clinics, one located at the hospital in Augusta and one located in Aiken, South Carolina. The newest addition to the health care system’s campus is the Heart & Vascular Institute, a 188,000-square-foot cardiovascular center with 72 universal inpatient suites, is the largest, most comprehensive center of its kind in the region and offers a full range of heart and vascular care, from diagnosis to rehabilitation. University has a long history as a leader in delivering cardiovascular, cancer and women's services. With quality as key focus in the delivery of care, University Hospital has been designated at the Consumer’s Choice Hospital for the region for the past 15 years and recently was awarded an “A” rating in hospital safety from The Leapfrog Group.
Basic Functions: The Unit Based Oncology Pharmacist works under the supervision of the Pharmacy Oncology Supervisor. He/she will work primarily in the oncology clinic in Aiken, SC but will also rotate through the oncology clinical in Augusta, GA as well as in the central pharmacy and nursing units at University Hospital. Basic functions with the position include performing distributive and pharmaceutical care services, in collaboration with physicians and nurses, to ensure appropriate, quality care for oncology patients as well as other adult patients with other medical and surgical needs.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
Performing distributive functions and pharmaceutical care activities for identified patient populations
Serving as drug information resource for health care providers and patients
Providing supervision to technical support in the oncology clinic sites and central pharmacy
Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal care for the patients served
Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy Degree
Current South Carolina Board of Pharmacy License**
Current Georgia Board of Pharmacy License
One year hospital pharmacy experience required, oncology experience preferred
Strong interpersonal skills
**If no South Carolina license at the present but willing to pursue, candidate will be considered

Compiles all materials required in submissions, license renewal and annual registrations. Recommends changes for labeling, manufacturing, marketing, and clinical protocol for regulatory compliance. Monitors and improves tracking / control systems. Keeps abreast of regulatory procedures and changes. May direct interaction with regulatory agencies on defined matters. Recommends strategies for earliest possible approvals of clinical trials applications.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree with 4+ years of related experience or Master’s degree with 2+ years of related experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in Regulatory submissions for medical devices.
Superior interpersonal skills.
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
Proven ability to prioritize, conduct, and meet project deadlines.
