Eastside Medical Center is currently looking for a Director of Pharmacy.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Serves to insure that quality pharmacy services are provided to the neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient population for health maintenance and improvement.
  • Assumes responsibility for clinical and resource management of department (24hrs/day).
  • Assumes responsibility for employee, physician, and patient satisfaction for quality of service.
  • Promotes hospital customer service initiative.
  • Works collaboratively with physicians and other health care team members to influence sound decision making when implementing change.

Department Specific Criteria:

  • Integrates department’s services with the hospital’s primary functions and mission.
  • Coordinates and integrates services within their department and with other departments.
  • Develops and updates the departmental written organizational plan that outlines functions, structures, and mechanisms for planning/performance which accurately reflects the department’s practice in accordance with Joint Commission, the state of Georgia, and federal criteria.
  • Identifies needs and develops or plans proposals which promote advancement of department and improved patient care.
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures that guide and support provision of patient care and services.
  • Assures that staff provides drug therapy based on age related and population specific criteria.
  • Evaluates pertinent information in accordance with current principles to maintain and improve the health status of patients.
  • Oversees care of population served by providing support and expertise to staff.
  • Continually assesses and improves their department’s performance in the hospital‘s PI program, National Patient Safety Goals, and corporate initiatives.
  • Maintains appropriate quality control programs consistent with state, federal, and regulatory agency guidelines.
  • Maintains responsibility for workflow of department by ensuring proper staffing levels.
  • Responsible for the financial integrity of the department.
  • Handles all staffing needs and personnel management including interviewing, hiring and training new staff members.
  • Recommends a sufficient number of qualified and competent persons to provide care and services.
  • Determines the qualifications and competence of department personnel who provide services.
  • Provides for orientation, in-service training, and continuing education of all persons in the department.
  • Recommends space and other resources needed by the department.
  • Evaluates new and high risk drugs and makes recommendations to improve patient outcomes.
  • Participates in selecting outside sources for needed services.
  • Serves as integral resource to facility in “Emergency Preparedness” activities.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Pharmacy
  • Current Georgia Pharmacy license
  • Five (5) years experience in Hospital Pharmacy practice
  • Five (5) years experience in Hospital Pharmacy Administration
  • Completion of ASHP Accredited Residency or equivalent work experience
  • Graduate degree in Business Management preferred

San Luis Valley Health (SLVH) is a rural healthcare organization which serves the approximately 50,000 residents of the San Luis Valley. In addition to six clinics, we have San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center, a 49-bed hospital in Alamosa that houses the central Pharmacy. This hospital provides medical/surgical, intensive care, OB, diagnostic, oncology, surgery, and cardiology services. We also have Conejos County Hospital, a 15-bed critical access hospital in La Jara that serves the emergency and medical needs of individuals in Conejos and Costilla County. SLVH is seeking a full-time hospital Clinical Pharmacist. Our Pharmacy is open Monday through Friday from 7 am to 5:30 pm and weekends 8:30 am to 5 pm, and our pharmacists rotate overnight call. Our pharmacists interact with patients, family and other healthcare providers to assure desired patient outcomes through safe, timely, cost-effective medication therapy. We provide daily medication profile review, verify orders, consult on dosing, provide drug information; and review and process chemotherapy orders.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy with a minimum of a Doctor of Pharmacy degree or a B.S. Pharmacy degree with comparable clinical experience required
  • Currently licensed to practice pharmacy in the state of Colorado required
  • Prior hospital experience preferred
  • Oncology experience preferred

Alamosa, Colorado with 9,000 residents is located in south-central Colorado close to Taos and the New Mexico border. We are just south of Great Sand Dunes National Park and to the east of Wolf Creek Ski Area.
